As the environmental consultant for the City of East Orange, Brilliant Environmental Services, LLC (BES) completed a Preliminary Assessment (PA), and Site Investigation (SI), to obtain a No Further Action (NFA) letter for a city-owned property.
The property is occupied by an abandoned commercial building and the City of East Orange intends to rehabilitate for use as a Senior Center. BES completed a PA, which includes a review of the site history and inspection of the building interior and exterior areas of the property to identify potential environmental areas of concern (AOC). A SI was completed to investigate AOC identified during the PA.
BES also inspected the structure for asbestos containing materials (ACM) and lead-based paint (LBP). Building materials containing asbestos and surfaces painted with LBP were positively identified for proper abatement prior to rehabilitation activities. BES will oversee the asbestos and LBP abatements.
