A retail petroleum station owner was interested in selling a property that was impacted by hydrocarbon contamination in its soil and groundwater. Brilliant Environmental Services, LLC (BES) was hired by a potential buyer to evaluate the environmental liability associated with the site, and assist in establishing the fair market value of the property. BES concluded that even though the site had been undergoing extensive remediation actions for over twenty years, the site remained contaminated, and the cost to fully complete the remediation was significant. Based upon BES’s investigations our client was able to successfully negotiate a sales agreement for the property, without assuming the liability associated with the environmental condition of the site.
After the project was finished, the property seller was so impressed with our work that they decided to hire BES. With the buyer’s previous approval, BES was brought in to provide expert legal advice, environmental compliance assistance, and cleanup services at the site.
