Brilliant Environmental Services founder recognized with the Scouting America Good Turn Award for making a lasting impact throughout Ocean County.

In 2024, Philip I. Brilliant, CHMM, LSRP, founder of Brilliant Environmental Services, was recognized by Scouting America, Jersey Shore Council with its Good Turn Award, honoring individuals who demonstrate an ongoing commitment to serving others and making a positive difference in their communities.
The award reflects values that have shaped both Phil’s career and the culture of Brilliant Environmental Services since the company was founded in 2006.
A Commitment to Giving Back
During a video announcing the award, Phil explained that community involvement wasn’t something he learned in business—it was something he learned growing up.
“I do what I do for my business and for the community because it was how I was brought up. It was always about giving back to the community.”
He credits his mother for setting that example through her own dedication to helping others while raising a family.
“It’s in my blood. It’s in who I am. I do it just to do it. It has nothing to do with being honored.”
That philosophy continues to guide both Phil personally and Brilliant Environmental Services as a company. Supporting local organizations, educational programs, nonprofits, and professional associations has always been viewed as an investment in the future of New Jersey’s communities.
Why Scouting Matters
The Scouting America Good Turn Award recognizes individuals whose daily actions reflect the Scout slogan: “Do a Good Turn Daily.”
Presented by the Jersey Shore Council, the award celebrates community leaders who consistently make meaningful contributions to organizations, families, and young people throughout Ocean and Atlantic Counties.
During the announcement, Phil spoke about the lasting impact organizations like Scouting have on children.
“Scouting is a great part of life. It really gives opportunities at young ages as children grow up. Whether it’s Scouting or other organizations in the community, it helps our children, it helps our community, and it really builds a good soul as well as a good person.”
Although his own daughters participated in Girl Scouts, Phil recognizes the important role that youth organizations of every kind play in developing future leaders and creating stronger communities.
